Dave Horning
Last May when Rev. Dave received an email from his home Conference of 26 years, the California-Pacific Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, saying that Fairbanks FUMC was looking for a pastor, it seemed to jump off of the page and caught his attention. He immediately emailed it to his wife, Amie, and asked what she thought about it. She immediately replied by saying, “When do we leave?” Well, two and a half months later God had opened many other doors, and after downsizing; rearranging and speeding up a daughter’s wedding; packing up all their worldly belongings plus a beloved cat and dog; renting the largest U-Haul truck AND trailer; and saying goodbye to friends and family—Amie and Dave (with help from a daughter and granddaughter) started their trip “North to Alaska!”
Dave and Amie have a blended family with 8 children and 5 grandchildren. Obviously there is never a dull moment within the Horning family! Every day has been a new experience for them here in the Last Frontier! “God has a reason for us being here,” Rev. Dave often says. And part of that reason is to love and lead a great congregation of wonderful people of all ages who take their faith journey seriously—but not too seriously. “There is no reason why we can’t have fun in church too!” Dave has also been heard to say.
“Come & See” what excitement, fun, and Spiritual adventures are happening at First United Methodist Church of Fairbanks! Another one of Dave’s sayings is, “You miss church—you miss out!” So please join us!
